What we know so far: Police cordon on Mansbridge Road
Yesterday, officers and forensic teams were on the scene.
Here’s what we know so far:
The scene
Officers have set up a cordon on Mansbridge Road in Swaythling.
It was set up yesterday, February 9, at around 3.30pm Police tape can be seen strewn along a piece of fence that leads to a small clearing in the wooded area.
More tape can be seen toward the back of the clearing.
The cordon has been set up opposite Ozzy’s Kebab Van and two cars were parked on either side of the road.
Forensic teams were seen searching within the woods.
What have the police said?

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “We are currently in attendance at an area of woodland near Mansbridge Road in relation to an ongoing police investigation.
“There is no wider risk to the public.”

Erin Nezbit, local resident, said: “I am just walking back home and I have seen the men in white suits (forensics) in the woods.
“It seems quite serious as they have put up the tape and there are police cars either side of the road.
“It’s usually very quiet, the most we get is a few crashes on the road every now and again, nothing this serious.”
One local resident, who often walks his dogs along the river, said he heard about the police in the area this afternoon.
He said: “I always walk up along this way and I was quite surprised to see the police here.
“They seem to be looking for something in the woods.”
